Texas NAHRO is looking for the latest and greatest session ideas that will influence the industry professionals who will be attending the TXNAHRO Annual Conference in Grapevine, TX in April 2019. TXNAHRO is searching for housing and community development officials who are willing to share ideas, experiences, best practices and expertise with their colleagues.

The audience will be made up of approximately 50% Executive Directors and upper management, 20% Commissioners, and the remaining 30% will be front line staff, case workers, housing specialists, etc. Conference attendees are looking for new innovative ways of doing things and ideas for improvement, efficiency and affordability.

Texas NAHRO's objective is to provide high-quality education and networking opportunities for housing and community development professionals and to be the premier source for ongoing education in the field. Presentations should be no more than 1 ½ hour in length and should focus on current and emerging issues, best practices and challenges facing the industry. If your proposal is accepted, you will gain visibility in the industry and contribute to the overall conference experience. Texas NAHRO is looking for individuals who are willing to volunteer their time to present to our members.

Your proposal must be submitted by January 11, 2019. Each submission will be reviewed by the Professional Development Committee and you will be notified by February 1, 2019 regarding the status of your proposed session topic.

The TX NAHRO PD Committee has provided the following list of topics in which our Members have expressed a special interest in learning more about, although submitted proposals are not limited to the topics on this list.

    • RAD-Financing Sources and Financing Plans
    • RAD-Understanding PBV and PBRA and the impact on PHA
    • RAD-Texas HA's that have converted Panel-from large to small (where are they now)
    • RAD-How to negotiate with Developers, Contract & Procurement
    • Development-What is an Instrumentality, Affiliate and the relation to the PHA
    • Organizational Development (i.e. the Oz Principle); Women in Leadership; and Innovation in Texas Has
  • Small PHA Roundtable - focus on Small HA management and outlook
  • Commissioners-Guide to RAD
  • Resident-Successful to FSS stories/program graduates
